Pin Cushions and Polo's

Magnus and I, have spent quite a lot of time over the last week or so having our arms used as pin cushions by our Local nurse, Typhoid, Hep B and Rabies. Unfortunately we have to go back for more this week, and what’s more have to pay for the privilege.

Delighted that the girls have agreed on their uniforms, it only remains for Magnus and myself to seek out the help of a top designer to fit us out with some kind of matching outfit.

Working on the PowerPoint presentation at the moment, ready for Sunday and have ordered the Polo shirts this morning.

Uniforms and outfits

Inspired by previous GSE teams we felt that we needed to have some sort of co-ordinated outfit to wear both for informal and formal occasions. The informal bit has been easy, a rotary branded polo shirt in navy blue and also white which we can wear with our own choice of casual bottoms. Getting a consensus of the formal wear however has been much more of a challenge! My advice to any future teams...start early : )

Luckily, due to our very organised team leader, we left ourselves plenty of time. The three ladies will now be wearing a dark green shimmer short sleeved shirt (on sale at Debenhams for £17.50!) and either black skirt or trousers which we will co-ordinate with the guys who will be wearing a green tie and black suit. We are now ready to be thrown in to the District Conference which is scheduled within the first few days of our arrival!

Foundation Seminar Evening

The team attended a Foundation Seminar Evening in Great Yarmouth on 24 November where we had a chance to hear the latest about the worldwide Polio Programme and water sanitation / wells in Zambia plus the opportunity to meet an extraordinarily bright young lady called Juliane (on an ambassadorial scholarship at Cambridge). It was also great to hear the presentation from the Phillipines GSE team and have a quick chat about their experiences. Everyone was extremely welcoming and interested to hear about what we were looking forward to in Bangalore.
